About Us

Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family

Who we are

What is Essex Gospel all about? Well, that’s a two-part answer. We are all about Jesus and those whom Jesus died for. That’s all of us, so, we’re about Jesus and people.

Where do we come from?

Essex Gospel began in 1925, but it was a loose affiliation of people back in those days. Today, we are a little over 90 years old and proudly a significant part of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. But yet, we’re young and vibrant and looking for the new things that God is calling us to.

Where are we headed?

Our vision statement says this – “We are ordinary people on a remarkable journey to an extraordinary place”. This means that God uses regular people like us, to do some pretty crazy Kingdom things, sometimes in some out of the way places. We are all on a journey with Christ, to any place He calls us to go. One day we’re going to be with Him, because He has already gone ahead of us to prepare our place with Him.

What does this mean for you?

It means that we do this together. We’re one with Jesus and we’re connected through Him to the body of Christ. We are called to be ambassadors to the world. Christ is making His appeal through us, to all humankind. So, if you’re one of those regular people, interested in going on some remarkable journeys, to incredible places; pack lightly and join us, God is going to do some amazing things.
